In June of 2008, Noah met Leigh when KCA staff went to visit their site in Kigali. At the time, Noah was surviving off one bowl of porridge a day, provided by the clinic, and living in dire poverty. But despite his emaciated frame and painful circumstances, Leigh saw something very lively and vibrant about the little boy and asked him what his biggest dream in life was. "I want to make and record an album," he told her, and then performed a song he wrote. His charisma and beautiful voice brought her to tears as he sang about AIDS, not only sharing
information about the disease, but inspiration. Noah doesn’t have a radio, CD player, iPod, or any way to record his music, but he says he thinks about music all the time, and hears it in
his head.
Noah's life took an amazing turn when Leigh invited Noah to perform at Keep A Child Alive’s Black Ball in New York City, their annual A-list fundraiser. That same trip, Noah also met Alicia Keys, KCA’s other co-founder, and one of Noah’s favorite artists.
Today, through his music, Noah has the power to transform his own life, and the lives of others, making him a true idol. Noah’s story is a glimmer of hope where hope is desperately needed. Because of KCA’s lifesaving work, Noah has become a unlikely hero and true idol,
who, with a small amount of support, has become an empowered leader and role model for an entire generation of orphans.
