Talaina Brown Getting Rich in South Africa

WEALTH…

When I entered this contest, I knew the odds against my winning were tremendous. (Who actually WINS these things?!) However, given the cause, the $5 texting donation was easy. Now, as I reflect, it was

Louise Mcaulay KCA UK is flying high with the Birds...

2010 has been a good year so far. No - it's been a great year so far. KCA UK is doing BIG things, and I am so proud to be a part of it.

I work at a law firm called Bird & Bird, and last year I was invited to join their Community Commitee which is responsible for charitible activity - amongst other things. I learned that they recently started a 'Charity of the Year' sche

Aaron Tyler McCoy The Need for Brave Tin Men (Written Saturday June 12, 2010)

The World Cup stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa is just a click or two away from a village of tin houses. As soon as you pull up the dirt road and get out of the car, you’ll swear your sociology textbook, the chapter about poverty, has come to life. There was a chicken and her baby chicks picking at garbage on the side of the roa… Continue

Aaron Tyler McCoy In Transit (Written Friday June 11, 2010)

If we could see outside this plane to look at the ground, we would be able to see Africa. How wild is that? How insane? How bizarre? If I’m honest, right now, not that much. I’d venture as far to say it’s exactly the way it needs to be.

I said a prayer when I submitted my blogs and video for this contest. I prayed thanks, because I had already felt awakened to the true desires of my heart, that I want to do something more with my life than make money, have a big

Rachel Hathaway Off to South Africa

*written on 6/9/2010 Well, we've made it to the half way mark -- 7.5 hours down, 7.5 hours left to go of the flight. According to the flight map in front of me, we've traveled almost 4,000 miles from New York City and we are somewhere just off the coast of Senegal and Gambia. I'm feeling surprisingly calm at the moment. I guess that's a good thing seeing that everyone keeps saying that as soon as we get off the plane, we are going to be stepping into World Cup fever -- the scene at the Johannes… Continue

Aaron Tyler McCoy Waking Up In New York City

I woke up this morning in New York City. New York City. In a hotel room on the 34th floor, overlooking building upon building, skyscraper upon skyscraper. As I looked out, sleepily, across the cityscape, I found myself wondering, “What am I doing here?”

Not in an I’ve-been-drinking-all-night sort of way, not even so much as a this-is-such-an-amazing-opportunity way. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t take this for granted at all, I am incredibly fortunate, I count mysel

Caroline Hannon My first post

So, a few things about myself: I am a college student, I am a nursing major, I live in NYC during the school year and hope to live there all year round very soon, I love children, I love musical theater, I love exploring new places, I am a childhood cancer survivor, I am grateful for everything life gives me, I take advantage of every positive opportunity I can, I don't waste my time with people that don't appreciate anything in life, I want to make a difference.
Of course there are lots of… Continue

Talaina Brown I won't be robbed!

Negative energy is a major threat. Not only is it a threat to one's internal well-being, but it is also a threat to the potential good that can be done.
I have experienced some obstacles that (I THOUGHT) forced me into feeling worried, anxious, and nervous; ultimately, these obstacles robbed me of quite a few moments of happiness as I prepare for my journey in Africa with Alicia Keys and the other amazing people I'm going to get to know! As I lay in my bed last night, worrying about things t

Corinne Schultz T-Shirts for Keep A Child Alive!

At my school, Poway High School, we are given a Senior Project where we have to do 30 hours of some type of community service whether it's job shadowing or holding a fundraiser. For one part of my Senior Project, I decided to design t-shirts with the Keep A Child Alive logo on them and sell them and then send the profits to KCA. I hope to sell 20 shirts at $10.00 each, and after subtracting the cost of production, I'll have raised around $170.00. I know this isn't much, but I think this is a

YOWWWW YES YES FAM!

Check out this awesome fundraiser idea!
My friend Valerie (she doesn't have a KCA account, but she's on Twitter @AKA_VAL) had the idea of starting a fundraiser along the concerts of Alicia Keys. So we started to play around with that idea and now we want to make it official!

@AKA_VAL will visits three shows and I will visit seven shows of The Freedom Tour from Alicia Keys in Europe.
