We are looking for Summer Interns to work in the Keep a Child Alive
office in Brooklyn, NY! Internships are unpaid, and start/end dates
are flexible and vary according to project. Internships can be in
exchange for academic credit, although this is not a requirement.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS, SUMMER 2010:
1. Development Intern
Time commitment: 15 hours/week.
Skills needed: Desire to learn and ability to be resourceful and
work independently.
Job Description: The intern will work with the Director of
Development on a range of development-based tasks. As much as is
possible, a specific project will be assigned to the intern, but
exact tasks will depend upon the needs of the organization and the
skills/interest of the intern. Projects may include any of the
following:
* Completing research for grant proposals
* Drafting grant proposals for project/program funding
* Drafting grant reports and general donor correspondence
* Determining case statements for giving
* Assisting in implementation of fundraising initiatives
2. Events Intern
Time Commitment: 20 hours/week.
Skills needed: Extremely well organized interns are needed for this
internship. Interns must have the ability to adhere to deadlines
and schedules. Ability to take initiative, work independently and
undertake diligent research. Any events experience would be
helpful. Excellent written skills and confident spoken
communication skills are necessary.
Job Description: Interns will be helping KCA’s Events Director in
preparing for our annual fundraising gala's The Black Ball in
London and NYC.
3. Intern to the Vice President
Time commitment: 10-15 hours/week.
Skills needed: Excellent organizational skills are a must. Interns
must also be fluent in all aspects of Microsoft Office and be
internet-literate. Excellent spoken communication skills and a
confident phone-manner are essential.
4. Donor Relations Intern
Time Commitment: 10-15 hours/week
Skills needed: Desire to learn and ability to be resourceful and
work independently. Creative thinking a bonus!
Job Description: The intern will help coordinate and implement
donor outreach programs and fundraising initiatives like the AIDS
Walk, Circle of Giving and Keep a Child Alive’s ‘Community for a
Continent’ initiative. As much as is possible, a specific project
will be assigned to the intern, but exact tasks will depend upon
the needs of the organisation and the skills/interests of the
intern. Intern project may include:
* Donor data input into a new Common Ground database
* Donor mailings and communications
* Helping the Donor Relations Director research new prospect groups
and individual donors.
